How much does hardwood cost?

While hardwood flooring is not the cheapest flooring option out there, it is one of the most durable and long lasting options that will add value to your home. When deciding on your budget for a project like installing hardwood flooring, it is important to know what sort of price range you may be looking at. The first place to start is what the square footage of the area you are putting the flooring in. After that, there are a few other factors that will affect the cost of your project:

Solid vs. Engineered

One of the big factors is whether you are looking at solid hardwood or engineered hardwood. Engineered hardwood tends to be cheaper than solid, usually between $2 to $7 per square foot. Installing engineered tends to be cheaper as well since it is an easier installation job and there is no finish work.
